Adding to this historic year were multiple international medals, including a groundbreaking achievement that set Dynamo apart: two medals in two different weapons won on the same day in separate countries. Dylan French secured a bronze in men’s epee at the Vancouver World Cup, while Eleanor Harvey captured a bronze in women’s foil at the Tunis World Cup. Dynamo’s medal count continued to grow, with three more international podium finishes, solidifying the club’s reputation as a powerhouse of Canadian fencing.

Nicholas Zhang: A Rising Star
At just 18 years old, Nicholas Zhang continued to make history in 2023. He became the youngest medalist in the history of Senior Men’s Epee at the Pan American Championships, winning silver in Lima, Peru.

2023: Building Momentum at the Pan American Games
The momentum for these achievements was built on an incredible performance at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. Dynamo fencers brought home five medals, highlighted by Dylan French’s gold in individual men’s epee. Dylan became the first Canadian in history to win this prestigious title.

The men’s epee team, comprised entirely of Dynamo athletes—Dylan French, Nicholas Zhang, and Fynn Fafard—secured a silver medal, coming within one touch of the gold. This marked Canada’s first men’s epee team medal since 2011, when Dynamo’s Igor Gantsevich and Tigran Bajgoric were part of the bronze-winning team.

Dynamo’s influence extended further, as all four members of the Canadian men’s national epee team were Dynamo athletes. The team also earned a bronze medal at the Pan American Championships, adding another proud achievement to Dynamo’s legacy.

Dynamo est fière de ce qui est largement considéré comme le programme d'entraînement d'élite le plus solide et le plus complet au Canada, offrant a complet gamme d'escrime de compétition et de loisir pour les enfants à partir de 4 ans.
